The Amulet: In Her Territory

(description after story)

"I want that necklace!"

That was the exclamation of the greedy Fairy Duchess. She gazed across the forest to the dark nether regions. She scorned at the sight, for what lie there.

Past the opening, across the stream, and through the miles of twisted trees that blackened as the trail went on, lived the Dark Fairy. In the possession of the Dark Fairy was an ancient amulet that was said to hold sacred gifts.

The story of the amulet was passed down through the ages as it changed hands with many, all of whom went mad trying to gain access to the gifts. The Fairy Duchess wanted those gifts...

For years now, her sister has held the throne as queen of her kind, and she wanted that all to change. One day her jealousy got the better of her and she decided she would take hold that throne whatever it takes.

One morning, the Fairy Duchess was strolling through the garden when she spotted a pixie picking some of her flowers. "What are you doing there?" she asked. The spooked pixie dropped the flowers and ran off into the forest. The Fairy Duchess noticed that the pixie had plucked a flower of every color. She smirked and headed off to her spinner's room.

The next morning she woke up before the sun reached the horizon. She went out to her garden and placed her work on a tree stump. This wasn't just any cloth though. This was her specialty iridescent fabric, made from clover dew and spider's silk. In the sunlight it shone beautifully with all colors present. She looked pleased at her work and went off to her knothole to wait.

As she had suspected, the pixie had returned. She started picking flowers when she spotted the fabric. She ran to it and hugged it. It's soft texture was delightful. Right then the Fairy Duchess approached. "Before you run..." The pixie turned in shock and started to back away. "I see you are fond of my handy work, would you like to have it?" The pixie nodded. "Well then, I have a deal for you." She pulled out a picture. "All you need to do is retrieve this amulet for me and you can have all of the cloth you'd like." The pixie grabbed the picture and ran off.

A crooked smile crept across the Fairy Duchess's face...

Alrighty! Here's my first entry for *HiddenYume-stock's Contest. I based this on this amazing stock. The other creature in the tree is the Evil Fairy's minion type thing. I actually made the second part of this first XD
